Brand Positioning Case Study - Claremont Dental

Claremont Dental
Case Study.

Dentistry that starts with knowing you.

Claremont Dental is an established dental practice built around something increasingly difficult to find in modern dentistry: genuine relationships between dentists and patients.

With Dr Dominic Etheridge and Dr Kate Etheridge bringing almost five decades of dental experience between them, the practice has built its reputation around personal care, thoughtful treatment and long-term relationships.

But as the practice continued to evolve, there was an opportunity to better communicate what made Claremont Dental different.

The challenge wasn't simply to create a better dental website.

It was to create a better

The Challenge.

How do you make a dental practice feel personal
before someone walks through the door?

Dental websites often start in the same place.

Treatments.
Technology.
Services.
Procedures.
Qualifications.

Important information, certainly - but not necessarily the reason someone chooses one dentist over another.

Claremont Dental already had something much more valuable.

Relationships.

The practice took time to know its patients, listened to their concerns, explained treatment clearly and avoided recommending treatment simply for the sake of it.

The opportunity was to make those qualities much more visible.

Rather than allowing services to define the brand, we needed to make the relationship the reason people understood Claremont Dental.

The Uncovery.

We started by understanding what was already there.

Before changing the website, we needed to understand the practice itself.

What makes the experience different?
What does good care actually mean at Claremont Dental?
What do Dom and Kate believe about dentistry?
And what should someone feel when they first encounter the practice?

The work moved through the same strategic thinking we've applied across the project -understanding the business, establishing the brand position and defining how that position should sound and feel.

The more we looked, the clearer it became that the strongest part of the Claremont Dental story wasn't a particular treatment or piece of technology.

It was the people.

What We Heard.

The strongest ideas were remarkably consistent.

Personal relationships.
Experience.
Trust.
No pressure.
Listening.
Explaining things clearly.
Long-term dental health.
And making people feel comfortable.

Dom and Kate each bring more than two decades of experience, but their approach isn't built around telling people how experienced they are.

It's built around how that experience is used.

Listen first.
Understand what's needed.
Explain the options.
Recommend what's right.

And, importantly, knowing when another specialist may be better placed to help.

There was also something worth protecting.

#openup.

It already had recognition and equity within the practice, but its role could evolve from being the whole proposition into something much more useful:

An invitation to start a conversation.

What We Uncovered.

The real difference wasn't the dentistry.
It was the relationship around it.

Claremont Dental didn't need to compete by claiming to be bigger, more advanced or able to do everything.

Its strength was much simpler.
Knowing people.
Knowing their history.
Knowing their concerns.
Knowing what matters to them.
Knowing when treatment is appropriate.
Knowing when prevention is better.
And knowing when the right answer is to refer someone to a trusted specialist.

That led us to a much stronger expression of the brand:

Dentistry that starts with knowing you.

It puts the relationship before the treatment.
And it gives everything else the practice does a much clearer reason to exist.

The Brand Opportunity.

From dental services to a more
personal experience of care.

The opportunity wasn't to change what Claremont Dental does.

It was to change what people understand about it.

From services to relationships.
From treatment to understanding.
From claims of care to behaviours that demonstrate care.
From a dental practice to people you can trust with your dental health.

And from simply telling people what Claremont Dental offers to helping them feel:

“I could see myself being comfortable here.”

That became the organising idea behind the brand and the new digital experience.

The Position.

Dentistry that starts with knowing you.

The position is deliberately simple.

Because the more we explored Claremont Dental, the more we realised that knowing is at the heart of the experience.

Knowing the patient.
Knowing their history.
Knowing their concerns.
Knowing what is right for them.
Knowing when to treat.
Knowing when not to.
And knowing when someone else can provide better care.

Supported by:

Experienced care. Personal relationships. No pressure.

The position gives Claremont Dental a clear foundation for how it presents itself - from the words
it uses to the people it shows, the services it explains and the experience it creates online.

Bringing it to life.

The website became the first relationship.

Once the position was clear, the website had a very different job to do.

It needed to help someone considering a dentist understand why Claremont Dental was different before asking them to book.

So the experience was built around a natural journey:

Meet Claremont Dental.
Understand the difference.
Build trust.
Explore the care.
Meet the people.
See the proof.

#openup.

Then make contact.

Real photography became an important part of the expression too.

Because if the brand is about knowing people, the website needs to show people knowing people - not another collection of generic dental images.

The Work.

Turning strategy into an experience people can feel.

The new Claremont Dental experience brings the positioning through every important part of the website.

The homepage leads with the relationship rather than the services.
Dom and Kate are brought forward as the people behind the practice.
Care is demonstrated through real behaviours rather than repeatedly claiming that Claremont Dental “cares”.
Services are explained in clear, reassuring language.
The specialist network becomes a demonstration of experience and patient-first thinking.

And #openup remains as a familiar invitation for people to start the conversation.

The design follows the same thinking.

Simple.
Considered.
Calm.
Confident.
Professional without feeling corporate.

And high quality without needing to say so.

The Result.

A clearer expression of what Claremont Dental
has always been about.

The new Claremont Dental website isn't simply a new collection of pages.

It gives the practice a much clearer story.

A prospective patient can now understand the relationship behind the dentistry before getting into the detail of individual treatments.

The experience puts people first, supported by almost five decades of combined experience, a broad range of dental care and trusted specialist relationships.

Most importantly, the website is designed to feel like an extension of the practice itself:

Experienced, but not intimidating.
Professional, but not corporate.
Friendly, but not casual.
Caring, without constantly saying “we care”.

The result is a digital experience designed to do something very simple.

Start the relationship.

The Jam Jar's Perspective.

The best brands don't always need to say more. They need to mean more.

Claremont Dental already had the ingredients of a strong brand.

Experience.
Knowledge.
Relationships.
Trust.
Care.

The opportunity was to bring those things together into one clear idea and let that idea guide everything that followed.

Because when a brand knows what it stands for, the creative decisions become easier.

The website becomes clearer.
The message becomes more human.
And the experience starts to feel like the business behind it.

Dentistry that starts with knowing you.

Services.
